Bruxism Treatment

Clenching your jaw sub-consciously or grinding your teeth involuntarily are both symptoms of a condition known as Bruxism, which can occur during sleep or wakeful hours.

Bruxism symptoms can be mild which is why 30% of the affected population does not bother reporting them. Unfortunately, if the condition persists, it can lead to headaches, hypersensitive teeth, accelerated tooth wear and the feeling that your jaw is always tired.

Bruxism may be dealt with by getting dental splints fitted, but now muscle relaxing injections with BOTOX® offer another solution which many clients find more comfortable and convenient.

How does bruxism treatment work?

At Dr. Barbara Kubicka’s Clinicbe Skin of Colour, BOTOX® injections offer a safe and practical solution to Bruxism.

BOTOX® injections work to relax the masticatory muscles around the jaw just enough to reduce its ability to clench the jaw or grind teeth. After 5-6 carefully administered injections, patients can feel their jawline start to relax. Once the BOTOX® has become fully effective, they  and will no longer find themselves involuntarily clenching their jaw or grinding their teeth.

This treatment only affects bruxism – clients can continue smiling, talking and chewing normally – without all the unpleasant symptoms associated with bruxism.

What does bruxism treatment treat?

Bruxism treatment involves the administration of BOTOX® injections around specific jawline areas to help patients relax the muscles which cause involuntary clenching and grinding motions.

The masticatory muscles around the jaw can be relaxed just enough without adversely affecting the ability to chew properly or talk and smile normally.

“There are many research studies that support the efficacy of BOTOX® injections when it comes to reducing the discomfort and tension in the jawline muscles associated with bruxism.

“I can confidently recommend BOTOX® as a safe, cost-effective and practical solution for tackling the bruxism symptoms. All patients that have taken advantage of BOTOX® injections to remedy Bruxism at my clinic have reported highly satisfactory results.”
