Skin Peels

One of the least invasive methods to generating new skin and enjoying that soft and smooth appearance is through skin peels, which work to lift off the top layer of debris and dead skin cells through a process of chemical exfoliation.

Benefits may include improvement to acne, acne scars, wrinkles, freckles, age spots, Melasma and photo-ageing (overexposure to the sun).

How do skin peels work?

During the treatment, a non-toxic chemical solution is applied to the skin in order to gently remove the topmost layer where dead cells reside.

Post-treatment, a soothing cream is applied. This penetrates the skin particularly well immediately after a skin peel or chemical peel.

In the days and weeks following treatment, new cells grow to regenerate skin tissue, giving it a rich texture and smooth appearance.

What do skin peels treat?

Skin/chemical peels are well-suited to treating many skin problems such as mild scars, old and tired looking skin, dark spots, freckles and age spots, dehydrated/dry skin and even some kinds of acne.

Since skin peels can reduce acne-related inflammation as well as the effects of pigmentation and sun damage, patients can expect to see even skin tone and texture, brighter appearance, softer skin, and generally a younger look due to the production of new collagen.

“Chemical peels need to be carried out with specific care and attention when it comes to skin of colour, as overly aggressive formulations can trigger pigmentation issues. Some practitioners refuse to offer them while others may not adapt the treatment properly.

“However, when appropriately delivered, skin peels can be enormously beneficial to skin of colour. They are a practical and cost-effective alternative to more invasive procedures and improve a wide range of conditions and concerns – including pigmentation – simply by stimulating the body’s own renewal processes.”
