PRP Scalp and Hair Stimulation

Hair and scalp stimulation treatment that utilises platelet rich plasma has seen high success rates.

PRP treatment for the scalp and hair works by activating hair follicles which have been dormant. Blood mainly consists of these four components; white cells, red cells, platelets and plasma. PRP treatment extracts blood from the patient and harvests it into a platelet-rich layer which contains several growth factors. Various nutrients may be added to this mix before the formula is injected directly into the scalp.

This option is particularly popular among clients with skin of colour who wish to avoid the side effects of medicinal or surgical interventions.

How does PRP scalp and hair stimulation work?

Blood is drawn from the patient, usually from the arm, and spun in a special centrifuge to separate it into three layers: red blood cells, platelet-poor plasma and platelet-rich plasma.

The platelet-rich plasma is injected into the scalp through a syringe. This releases the body’s own natural healing agents back into the scalp.

What does PRP scalp and hair stimulation treat?

PRP treatment is ideal for those who are seeking to stimulate hair re-growth via improving the health of the scalp. Healthy scalp skin (through PRP) means healthier hair follicles, so over time, hair can naturally grow fuller and thicker.

“PRP is an excellent non-surgical alternative for treating hair loss in clients who do not wish to undergo surgery or take medication with undesirable side effects.

“PRP tends to work well in clients with a high number of inflammatory cells around hair follicles – PRP helps address this to boost and revitalise hair growth.”
